A multi-ethnic city, Trieste preserves and celebrates places of worship and cultural heritage from different religions.
What is Trieste’s strength?
Its port, which became central to the economy in the 18th century under the Austro-Hungarian Empire—the same port that will host the 17th edition of Olio Capitale Expo from 14 to 16 March 2025.
Dynamic, lively, and full of surprises:
Trieste is also
shopping, entertainment, great food, and breathtaking sunsets. The capital of Italy’s smallest province, Trieste and its Gulf area hold numerous environmental and cultural treasures, such as the Karst plateau, the Timavo River, Miramare Castle, and Duino Castle, which is open to the public despite being the private residence of the Princes of Torre e Tasso (von Thurn und Taxis).
Piazza Unità d’Italia is the beating heart of the city—the most beautiful and symbolic square overlooking the sea, and also the largest in Europe.
The most fascinating side of the square faces the sea, where the Audace Pier extends for over two hundred meters.
From here, the view spans across the city—from the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Nicholas to the Grand Canal, the heart of the district created by Maria Theresa of Austria, whose churches bear witness to the harmonious coexistence of different religions.
Naturally, a visit to the many historic cafés in the city center is a must.
Combine business with pleasure: take part in Olio Capitale Expo and experience the magic of Trieste.
